Scaling and Root Planning

Welcome to Mountain Top Periodontics & Implants.
Periodontics practice in Colorado Springs, CO.
“Absolutely fantastic. I am in the dental field and I am always very careful with whom I trust my smile to. I will say: I do not have a lot of the problems that most of the other patients have there, but I continue to book my appointments with [the] hygienist. I enjoy the minimal scraping since mostly the ultrasonic is used. This causes my anxiety to be much less. Thank you for everything, Team Salcetti!”
Luke J.

Periodontal disease can cause oral pain and discomfort, bad breath, and loss of teeth. But when your dental team can catch it early, we can work together to reverse the effects of gum disease, often using a scaling and root planing procedure.

THE PROBLEM

If not properly removed, plaque and tartar left on the teeth like to take up permanent residence, followed by bacteria. This turns into the first stage of gum disease, gingivitis. Your gums will likely be swollen and tender and will be more likely to bleed when brushing your teeth or even just eating!

THE SOLUTION

With scaling and root planing at Mountain Top Periodontics & Implants, we’ll be able to rid your mouth of the effects of periodontal disease and treat your gingivitis early, before it advances into later stages. One of our skilled dentists or hygienists will scale your teeth to clean all plaque and tartar build up. We will then plane your roots, removing all of the rough surfaces to keep plaque and tartar from sticking to these hard-to-reach places under the gums.

As a patient with gingivitis, this deep clean should be part of your routine cleaning when you come in for your dental checkups. In many cases, our staff will prescribe periodontal maintenance which includes a custom schedule to properly address your gum disease issue.

LET’S GET STARTED

Together, we can say goodbye to plaque and tartar buildup! The first step is to schedule an appointment with our Mountain Top Periodontics & Implants team. When you’re here, we will determine how often you should come in for deep cleanings or maintenance appointments. Because, you don’t have to let gum disease control your mouth. Get back to optimum oral health and a shining smile.
